SERVICES | SPECIALIZED | ADDICTION EDUCATION
Addiction is a disorder which has long been misunderstood. Common misconceptions about addiction are that addicts "lack morals" or "self will". It is not uncommon for the families we work with to report feeling angry, confused and scared about their loved one. Unfortunately the addict often feels the same about themselves. Addiction education helps clients and their families understand why they do what they do and how to stop. Just as addicts adapt drugs and alcohol as coping skills, the family often forms unhealthy coping skills as well. Addiction can go on for years, reinforcing negative dynamics within the family. Addiction Education helps addicts and their families learn how to set boundaries, respect one another and enter recovery.
