Why Intensive Outpatient?

History, science, and doctors have shown alcoholism and drug addiction are progressive, primary and potentially fatal diseases. Based on the history of addiction treatment, there is no "cure" for addiction. This disease is however, arrestable with ongoing treatment. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) allows individuals to learn the skills necessary to recover and allows them to integrate these skills into their lives. Our IOP Program is an effective way to continue the duties of daily life and treat this disease.

When, What and How

Our groups are held in the evenings and meet three times per week. Each of these groups lasts three hours, for a total of nine hours per week. Our program includes a family component, addressing the families need to understand addiction, codependency and family recovery. Our program aims to give clients what they, as individuals, need to succeed. Due to this fact, the duration of the program varies based on necessity of the client. The average length of duration for the IOP Program is 12 weeks.

After completing the IOP level of treatment, clients attend our Continuing Care Program. This creates a step-down process, fully supporting the newly recovering individual in their recovery. Continuing Care in combination with ongoing monitoring is a proven outline for sustained success.

We understand that abstinence is a vital part of recovery. Our program is 12-Step based and incorporates peer support, group based counseling, individual counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, relapse prevention, experiential work, and emotive therapies. All this work is done in conjunction with an individuals attendance at outside 12-Step meetings, work with a sponsor and development of a recovery support network. This multi-model approach to treatment is more effective for individuals with co-occurring disorders, histories of relapse and other complications.
