Addiction Rehab and Recovery Resources in Maple Valley, WA

Maple Valley, Washington Drug and Alcohol Rehab and Addiction Recovery Resources

Alcohol and drug rehab and detox are there to provide support to people in the Maple Valley, WA area. But not everyone with a substance abuse problem will have the desire to go to treatment, but they may not know of any other recovery resources. That can leave them feeling as though they have no other options but to keep using, or to try and quit on their own. Neither of these is the best solution.

Fortunately, 12-Step programs like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous are there to help. Both of these organizations offer support group meetings to addicts in recovery on a weekly basis. For families that are struggling because of a loved one’s addiction, Al-Anon and Alateen are available. There are plenty of other Maple Valley area recovery resources as well.

Though we are not affiliated with the programs we named above, we know they can be effective. We would like to take some time to talk about all of the different addiction recovery options there are in the Maple Valley area.

Information About Drug and Alcohol Rehab in the Maple Valley Area

Unfortunately, stopping the use of drugs and alcohol is rarely easy. In addition to having to go through withdrawal, people often find it easy to relapse. This only perpetuates the cycle of addiction. But it is why most people need to seriously consider getting professional treatment.

Going to alcohol and drug rehab can be a life-changing experience. It offers people help for their substance abuse problems, and what led to them as well. For many, having access to dual diagnosis treatment is critical because they suffer from co-occurring disorders.

During rehab, people receive several different types of therapy to help them reach their recovery goals. Every individual should have their own treatment plan because that allows the staff to address their needs personally.

In the Maple Valley area, there are close to 40 drug and alcohol rehab centers within a 15-mile radius. These programs are a mix of both inpatient and outpatient treatment facilities.

For those who wish to travel further away from home to receive the help they need, there are even more options. There are more than 200 facilities within a 50-mile radius of the city, according to the SAMHSA treatment locator.

Both inpatient and outpatient treatment can be effective when it comes to treating addictions. What matters most is that everyone who is seeking help finds the type of program that will work best for them.

Outpatient programs are usually best for those who have had some type of treatment in the past. They can also work for people who are motivated to recover, but who need more flexibility because of their busy schedules.

Inpatient programs are where many recovering addicts begin their treatment. They may have a history of relapsing, or their home lives may make it hard for them to be successful. At any rate, they need a higher level of care, and they often need to go through detox as well.

Ashwood Recovery’s Outpatient Treatment Facility

At Ashwood Recovery, we offer an excellent outpatient treatment program, and it has been called one of the best in the area. We understand that every client we serve has different needs. Some need higher levels of care than others, and we are happy to accommodate that.

We offer a more traditional outpatient rehab, as well as an IOP and partial hospitalization. That allows us to customize our client’s treatment experience according to their unique needs.

More Options for Outpatient Rehab

Of course, there are other options for those seeking outpatient rehab. For example, we have another program called Northpoint Seattle. They are located in Seattle. They offer many of the same services we do, and may be more convenient for someone who lives in Washington State.

Do You Need an Inpatient Rehab Program?

We also have a facility that provides inpatient treatment, and that includes detox services. It is called Northpoint Washington, and they offer treatment for both alcoholism and drug addiction

At Northpoint Washington, patients are monitored 24 hours a day. They receive the highest level of care that is available.

Local Support Groups Near Maple Valley, WA

A successful recovery requires an enormous amount of dedication on the part of the addict. But the truth of the matter is that it also takes much more than just willpower in order to stay clean for good. And that’s where support groups come in.

These local groups help provide the emotional and motivational support needed to fight off cravings, help identify triggers, and a dedicated social network to give individuals somewhere to turn when their willpower starts failing.

Below are just some of the closest near Maple Valley.

One of the most well-known support groups, Alcoholics Anonymous was first founded in Akron, Ohio in 1935. And since then, it’s grown to have nearly 2.1 million members in 2017.

Part of what makes this group so popular is the accessibility of these groups. They’re 100% free, open to all, and are strong supporters of anonymity – a welcome factor in helping address the stigma surrounding addiction.

Another aspect that makes AA so popular is the fact that it uses the 12-step model – an approach to alcoholism recovery that’s even endorsed by the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

There are a number of AA groups happening around Maple Valley too. Below are some of the closest.

This offshoot of AA uses a similar 12-step approach to help support recovering addicts. But rather than only focusing on alcoholism, Narcotics Anonymous opens its doors to addictions of all kinds, whether it’s heroin, cocaine, meth, or even alcohol.

And like Alcoholics Anonymous, NA meetings are free, open to all, and widely available.

Addiction can be devastating to so many different aspects of an alcoholic’s life. And for many friends and family members, the problems experienced as a result of their loved one’s drinking can end up being just as problematic.

Al-Anon is a 12-step group designed to help these often-unsupported victims of addiction. And it’s been an excellent source of healing for thousands around the world.

There are a few Al-Anon meetings happening nearby too.

Similar to AA’s relationship with Al-Anon, Narcotics Anonymous’ friends and family branch is a 12-step group called Nar-Anon. And like its sister program, this group is a great source of support for anyone who has been hurt by a loved one’s substance abuse.

Some common topics of discussion may include:

Growing up in an alcoholic home can cause serious problems in children and young people. And for many, this can cause trauma that can actually end up lasting a lifetime if not dealt with properly.

Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACoA) is another 12-step program designed to provide healing for people who grew up with an alcoholic and are still experiencing functional problems in adulthood.

Meetings are a little harder to come by, but there are still quite a few in the area. Below are some of the closest.

Not all healing has to come from a 12-step program. And in fact, some people may find that their idea of recovery is completely incompatible with these programs altogether.

Thankfully, there are plenty of 12-step alternatives out there. And SMART Recovery is one of the best.

SMART Recovery is a non-spiritual addiction support group that gives members real-world techniques and strategies they can use to fight off cravings, avoid triggers, and stay sober.

There are a few meetings happening in the area too.

Not everyone will be able to attend in-person meetings. They may have an unusual schedule like working the graveyard shift. Or maybe they don’t have access to reliable transportation.

Whatever the reason, there are other flexible options that can help provide support to individuals like these that may have otherwise not had access to it. And online groups are some of the easiest to use.

These groups may take place over email, real-time chatrooms, message boards, or even video conferencing calls. It just depends on the group.

Below are just a few to help you get started.

Professional Treatment for The Best Recovery Outcomes

Support is a vital part of any successful recovery program. However, it alone often isn’t enough to keep patients sober in the long-term. And in fact, the overwhelming majority of addicts will need a much higher level of care than support groups can offer in order to get clean for good.

That’s where professional addiction treatment programs come in. These programs use evidence-based treatments to give recovering addicts the tools they need to fight powerful cravings, identify unexpected triggers, and maintain their sobriety in the most trying of moments.

They can also ensure that the recovery process is as smooth, pain-free, and safe as possible.

There are two main types of professional programs available: detoxification programs and rehabilitation programs.

Detoxification is the first step of any addiction treatment program. And it’s concerned primarily with getting patients through the often-uncomfortable process known as withdrawal. This is when the body readjusts to living without the addictive substance and learns how to function normally on its own.

The problem, however, is the fact that many withdrawal syndromes come with a range of painful symptoms. Some of the most common include:

  • Headaches
  • Nausea
  • Muscle aches
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Paranoia
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting

These symptoms can be so overwhelming that many recovering addicts actually turn back to using just to get some relief.

A professional program helps prevent relapse by using a range of treatments, some medicated in nature and others holistic.

These programs also help prevent and treat serious complications that, left untreated, can actually end up being deadly.

Once detox is over, rehabilitation is the next step. While detox is focused on the physical side of addiction, rehab is more concerned with the psychological side. That means that it treats the compulsive drug-seeking and self-destructive habits that most addicts struggle with. They usually use counseling, group talk sessions, and behavioral therapies to treat these problems.

There are also a couple of different types of rehabs to choose from.

  • Inpatient– This kind of program is usually considered to be the highest form of treatment available. Patients in these programs actually stay at a treatment facility throughout the course of the program. This allows for a more controlled environment and more intensive treatment. They usually last around 30 days.
  • Outpatient– These 3-month programs offer patients a more flexible approach to recovery. Patients are free to spend their days and nights as they wish and receive treatment during evening sessions. This means that patients can also attend work, go to school, and fulfill various family obligations throughout the course of treatment.
  • Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs)– An IOP is a flexible alternative to inpatient that offers more comprehensive care than a typical outpatient program. Treatment sessions in these programs occur in the evenings and over the weekend. But they also tend to last longer and occur more frequently than most outpatient programs. They are also usually around 3 months long.

There is only one addiction treatment within Maple Valley, Washington. And for many, its approach to recovery may not mesh well with how most people believe addiction should be treated.

Consequently, many residents in Maple Valley will need to travel in order to get the quality addiction treatment they need to overcome their substance use disorder.

This, however, can actually end up being a benefit rather than a detriment. That’s because choosing to travel for treatment can open up the door to a much wider range of options. And that translates into more of an opportunity to find programs that offer higher quality treatments and more dedicated services.

But there are more benefits to travelling for treatment to consider too. Below are just some of the best.

  • A more solidified commitment to recovery.
  • More privacy and confidentiality.
  • A new environment to help make it easier to adopt new life strategies.
  • More advanced facilities and greater expertise in treating your specific type of addiction.
  • Better amenities to make recovery far more comfortable.
  • A program that, due to its location, can make it less likely you’ll quit the program just because of a bad day.
