Narcotics Anonymous (NA) is another popular support group. Much like Alcoholics Anonymous, this one is based around the Twelve Steps. Unlike AA, however, this group is designed for people who are addicted to nonalcoholic drugs.
Addicts of all kinds attend these meetings. In a typical meeting, you’ll find heroin addicts, cocaine addicts, and crystal meth addicts. There are also a lot of members who developed a prescription drug addiction after being prescribed drugs by a doctor. There are even marijuana addicts who find this program helpful.
The meetings operate similarly to AA meetings. Members get together to talk and support one another. Each member works through the Steps at their own pace. Individuals are free to attend as many meetings as they’d like to. There are no requirements to become a member. Everyone is welcome.

Al-Anon is a support group for the family members of addicts. After all, these people need support too. Loving an addict can be overwhelming and isolating. It’s important for family members to speak with others who understand their situation.
This organization holds free meetings for people who love an addict. In these meetings, members convene to support each other. They unite over their similarities and offer advice to one another. Many people benefit from this support because it’s hard to find elsewhere.

There is one Alateen meeting close to Pullman, but it is almost 70 miles away. Even so, attending one of these meetings in person can be so helpful for teenagers and young people. While it might be somewhat of a long drive, it is important to consider the benefits of attending.

For those who are unable to attend Alateen meetings in person, they also have them online. These regularly scheduled chat sessions are adult moderated, and they are for teenagers between 13 and 18 years old. Also, please remember that young people are always welcome to attend Al-Anon meetings.
